Artists Equity Jennifer Lopez Movie ‘Unstoppable’ Returns To Filming Next Week; Don Cheadle, Michael Peña & Bobby Cannavale Join Cast As Amazon MGM Boards

EXCLUSIVE: The Artists Equity movie Unstoppable remains exactly that: After the production was shut down during the WGA strike, the William Goldenberg directed, Jennifer Lopez and Jharrel Jerome starring sports movie will return to shooting on Dec. 12 with Don Cheadle, Michael Peña and Bobby Cannavale joining the cast.
In addition, Amazon MGM Studios will be distributing the movie, repping its second collaboration with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s Artists Equity in the wake of this year’s critically acclaimed Air ($90M WW box office, 93% on Rotten Tomatoes A CinemaScore); a title originally intended to stream exclusively on Prime Video before the streamer opted to release the Nike Air Jordan dramedy in an initial theatrical window.
Based on the book, Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated: How I Became a Champion by Anthony Robles and Austin Murphy, the movie follows Robles, who despite being born without a right leg and growing up in an abusive household, rises to become a NCAA Division 1 Champion wrestler ultimately winning a national championship against the school that rejected him, national powerhouse Iowa. John Hindman adapted the book, which also reps Argo Oscar winning editor Goldenberg’s feature directorial debut.
Producers are Artists Equity’s Affleck and Damon; Nuyorican Productions’ Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas; Coonskin Cap’s David Crockett; A Really Good Home Pictures’ Andy Fraser; Gary Lewis; and Robles. EPs are Artists Equity’s Dani Bernfeld and Michael Joe; Kevin Halloran; Jack Murray.
