Ezra Miller Harassment Protective Order Lifted in Massachusetts, ‘The Flash’ Star Slams Media For ‘Chasing Clicks’

Brent Lang Executive Editor A temporary protective order in Massachusetts against Ezra Miller, the embattled star of “The Flash,” was lifted on Friday. Miller was accused of acting inappropriately around the 12-year old child of Shannon Guin, a Massachusetts woman, and of menacing her family. “I’m encouraged by today’s outcome and very grateful at this moment to everyone who has stood beside me and sought to ensure that this egregious misuse of the protective order system was halted,” Miller wrote in a statement on Instagram. Miller, who uses they/them pronouns and identifies as nonbinary, never faced criminal charges. In their Instagram statement, Miller argued that the protective order issued against them was being “used as weapons by those seeking attention or fleeting tabloid fame or some sort of personal vengeance when there are people in true and dire need of these services.”

Listen to a previously unreleased Mac Miller song, “The Star Room (OG Version)”

Mac Miller‘s sophomore album, Watching Movies with the Sound Off, launched the Pittsburgh rapper into a new phase of his career — from dismissed gimmick to a bona fide artist, a label he continued to wear and develop until his untimely death from an accidental drug overdose in 2018. The 10th-anniversary edition of this key entry in Miller’s catalog is out today, and the tracklist sports a previously unreleased version of the album opener “The Star Room.” Branded the “OG Version,” the new rendition of “Star Room” features a more contemplative beat that foregrounds the song’s gummy synth lines and chops up a sample of a children’s choir.

Ezra Miller’s Legal Troubles: A Timeline of Arrests and Controversies Before ‘The Flash’

Jordan Moreau Warner Bros. and DC Studios’ tentpole summer release, “The Flash,” finally hits theaters this weekend, but the superhero movie had been beset by delays and off-screen controversies involving star Ezra Miller in the years before its release. “The Flash” was initially revealed back in October 2014 as part of the inaugural DC Universe slate. It received a 2018 release date, alongside eventual releases like “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “Suicide Squad,” “Wonder Woman,” “Aquaman” and “Shazam.” However, parts of that plan didn’t come to fruition. Standalone “Cyborg” and “Green Lantern” movies were scrapped, and a two-part “Justice League” movie by Zack Snyder became one film.

Chris Perfetti on Landing ‘Abbott Elementary’ and Relating to LeBron With Off-Broadway Play ‘King James’

Ethan Shanfeld For Chris Perfetti, “Abbott Elementary” was not just another pandemic-era script on his desk. “I first read the pilot in the spring of 2020, and it was in no small way a profound moment,” he tells Variety. The actor, who plays the enthusiastic, delightfully corny BFF to Quinta Brunson’s Janine in the hit ABC sitcom about public school teachers, was sitting on a park bench in Atlanta, laughing to himself. “I remember chuckling out loud and looking around me and being very aware of if I was making anyone uncomfortable,” says Perfetti. “I had a strong feeling that if anybody had the guts to make this thing and make it right, it would be great.”
