The Art Directors Guild has elected production designer Dina Lipton (Not Dead Yet) its president, succeeding outgoing president Nelson Coates who completes 8-plus years in the post.
Lipton will lead a 20-member executive board which, for the first time in the guild’s history, sees its four top-ranking posts all held by women: senior set designer Kristen Davis was elected vice president, supervising art director Helen Harwell was chosen to be treasurer and art director/senior set designer Judy Cosgrove was elected secretary. All will serve three-year terms commencing June 1, 2024.
“I’m thrilled to assume the role of President,” said Lipton in a statement. “Thank you to my fellow Guild members for voting me into this role. I’m looking forward to working hard on behalf of the membership during my term.”
ADG National Executive Director Chuck Parker added, “We’re excited to highlight the milestone of electing all-female executive officers for the first time in the Guild’s herstory. I look forward to the leadership they will provide over the next three years.”
Established in 1937, the Art Directors Guild (IATSE Local 800) represents 3,300 members who work throughout the world in film, television and theater as production designers and art directors; scenic, title and graphic artists; set designers and model makers; illustrators and matte artists.
