Zack Sharf Digital News Director Arnold Schwarzenegger says “The Terminator” is no longer a fantasy given the current state of artificial intelligence. Speaking at a press event in Los Angeles (via People), the actor said James Cameron’s 1984 action classic has now become a reality. The film is set in a world where an artificially intelligent defense network known as Skynet has become self-aware and has conquered humanity. “Today, everyone is frightened of it, of where this is gonna go,” Schwarzenegger said about AI. “And in this movie, in ‘Terminator,’ we talk about the machines becoming self-aware and they take over…Now over the course of decades, it has become a reality. So it’s not any more fantasy or kind of futuristic. It is here today. And so this is the extraordinary writing of Jim Cameron.”
Schwarzenegger added, “He’s just such an extraordinary writer and he’s such an unbelievable director, this is again, one of those things that I wish I could take credit for this movie. I can only take credit of the character that I played and the way I played it. But I mean, he has created this character. He has written it so well, he’s written the movie so well, and that’s why he is, you know, the number one director in the world.” Artificial intelligence is now widespread in Hollywood, be it Paul McCartney using AI to clean up John Lennon’s archived vocals on an upcoming Beatles song or Marvel using AI to help its animators create the opening credits for its Disney+ series “Secret Invasion.” “The growth of AI in terms of weapons systems and the problems that it is going to create have been very apparent for a lot of years,” Christopher Nolan recently told Wired magazine. “Few journalists bothered to write about it. Christopher Nolan has confirmed that he will “absolutely” not be working on more films until after the Hollywood strikes end. This week (July 13), the cast of Nolan’s new film Oppenheimer walked out of the UK premiere at the moment an actors’ strike began. The national board of SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild–American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) – Hollywood’s largest union, which represents 160,000 actors and performers – voted unanimously to strike, according to The Los Angeles Times.SAG-AFTRA was seeking better pay and working conditions in the age of streaming, while other negotiations related to safeguards against the unregulated use of artificial intelligence in the industry.Thousands of Hollywood productions are therefore currently paused, and Nolan discussed the meaning of the strike in an interview with BBC News, saying: “It’s not about me.”Asked whether he would be working on new films during the strike, he responded: “No, absolutely. It’s very important that everybody understands it is a very key moment in the relationship between working people and Hollywood.“This is not about me, this is not about the stars of my film.”The AMPTP said in a statement that “a strike is certainly not the outcome we hoped for as studios cannot operate without the performers that bring our TV shows and films to life”.“The Union has regrettably chosen a path that will lead to financial hardship for countless thousands of people who depend on the industry,” it added. The separate WGA (Writers Guild Of America) strike, which began on May 2, occurred following unsuccessful negotiations with AMPTP, who represent major Hollywood studios like Netflix, Disney, Apple, Amazon, Paramount, Warner Bros.

Al Pacino knows his business.
Daniel Goldberg, who produced all three The Hangover films, Space Jam, Old School and many others and co-wrote movies including the Bill Murray comedies Stripes and Meatballs, died today in Los Angeles. He was 74.
Al Pacino is so good at his craft, you can blink and miss it.
Christopher Nolan has revealed that Al Pacino once turned down a directing note on set, insisting to the filmmaker that he’d “already done that”.The acclaimed director – who is preparing to release his new biopic Oppenheimer starring Cillian Murphy – recalled filming 2002 thriller Insomnia with Pacino.“I had gone up to Pacino after a series of takes and given him a note on what I wanted,” he told The Los Angeles Times.“He told me, ‘I’ve already done that. You can’t see it to the eye, but I’ve done it on the dailies.’ I looked for it and I was like, ‘Oh, my God,’ because there it was.”Nolan added: “Great film actors can do that, and that’s what I had with Cillian.”Elaborating on Murphy’s challenging role of playing J.
Barbenheimer is coming.
Zack Sharf Digital News Director When thinking of the most important movie in Robert Downey Jr.’s filmography over the last 25 years, one might naturally assume the answer is “Iron Man,” the 2008 superhero tentpole that launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe and changed the blockbuster landscape in Hollywood. But that’s not the movie Downey Jr. himself would pick. In a new interview with The New York Times Magazine, the Oscar nominee cited 2006’s “The Shaggy Dog” and 2020’s infamous “Dolittle” flop as his most important titles. “I finished the Marvel contract and then hastily went into what had all the promise of being another big, fun, well-executed potential franchise in ‘Dolittle,'” Downey Jr. said. “I had some reservations. Me and my team seemed a little too excited about the deal and not quite excited enough about the merits of the execution. But at that point I was bulletproof. I was the guru of all genre movies. Honestly, the two most important films I’ve done in the last 25 years are ‘The Shaggy Dog,’ because that was the film that got Disney saying they would insure me. Then the second most important film was ‘Doolittle,’ because ‘Dolittle’ was a two-and-a-half-year wound of squandered opportunity.”
Slingo that others shouldn’t “underestimate” the former actress because she’s “ambitious.”“What if she became governor of California and lords it over Hollywood? Her backyard is Hollywood,” he said.Markle grew up in Los Angeles and currently lives in Montecito, California, with her husband, Prince Harry and their two kids, Archie and Lilibet.Burrell then described how actors-turned-politicians Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronald Reagan were successful in their endeavors. The bodybuilder, 75, served as the 38th governor of California from 2003 to 2011, and Reagan starred in several Tinseltown features in the 1930s before becoming the 40th US president. The former royal staff member went on: “Why couldn’t Meghan and Harry do it? They could become a power couple.” “It’s not so far-fetched because they have to keep going on, they have to keep reinventing themselves because if they don’t, that brand is going to disappear, the Sussex brand will disappear,” he claimed. The Post has reached out to Markle’s reps for comment.Burrell’s statements come just weeks after Harry, 38, and Markle lost out on their $20 million Spotify contract.Their “Archetypes” podcast was not renewed for Season 2 last month.Despite this business deal falling through, the couple’s contract with Netflix is still going strong. The duo signed an estimated $100 million deal with the streamer back in 2021.However, the Invictus Games founder could be getting a little tired of his wife’s Hollywood lifestyle, according to a new report. The Daily Mail noted recently that Harry may be looking to leave the world of glitz and glamour.“The big question is how long before Harry turns his back on the show-business life, for which he is obviously ill-suited and seems entirely
Zack Sharf Digital News Director Emilia Clarke told the Los Angeles Times that she disagrees with people who claim that acting in front of a green screen isn’t “real” acting. Clarke’s onscreen career has spanned several big franchises, from “Game of Thrones” to “Star Wars” to “The Terminator,” and now the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the Disney+ series “Secret Invasion,” many of which required her to interact with green screens. “The stigma is that people don’t do any acting in these shows,” Clarke said, referring to performing while standing in front of a green screen. “[But] then you’re like, ‘Well, then why are they asking all these great actors to do it, and why are they saying yes?'”
