The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has encouraged British people to be more forgiving – including towards Prince Andrew. In 2015, Virginia Giuffre alleged that late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, whom Prince Andrew was friends with, forced her to have sex with the now-62 year old Royal when she was 17. Prince Andrew always claimed his innocence and, following a civil lawsuit in the US, he ended up paying out “millions” to Virginia earlier this year in a financial settlement.
The father-of-two has since lost a handful of prestige titles, including his Freedom of York honour. In 2020, he also stepped down from all his public roles, meaning he’s no longer classed as a working royal. With the turbulent few years Prince Andrew has faced in mind, the Archbishop of Canterbury has encouraged the British population to “step back a bit” after he was asked where the public and the monarchy should sit regarding the accusations Andrew faced.
"Forgiveness really does matter. I think we have become a very, very unforgiving society,” he said in an interview with ITV News at 10 on Tuesday 31 May. Discussing the Prince directly, he added that he is “seeking to make amends and I think that’s a very good thing”.
Following the backlash the Royals received for having Prince Andrew walk the Queen down the aisle at Prince Philip’s memorial, the Archbishop said that the 96 year old monarch is “fully entitled” to have one of her children by her side. While he called on society to be more forgiving, the bishop also noted that “you can’t tell people out to respond” to the scandal and that, due to the nature of the accusations “it’s not surprising that there’s very deep feelings” about it. Prince Andrew is on the brink of being pulled back into the Jeffery Epstein sex scandal as he attempts to reintegrate himself into royal life.
Another royal rift is reportedly ongoing, with Prince Andrew allegedly refusing to speak to his brother Charles and nephew William, after the pair blocked his so-called ‘comeback’ plans. Andrew, 62, has taken a backseat from public life since sexual assault allegations against him resurfaced following the death of his former friend, peadophile Jeffrey Epstein, in 2019.The Duke of York has always vehemently denied the accusation brought against him by Virginia Giuffre.

The Duchess of York, 62, described her former husband, 62, as "very good and kind", before adding that "he really understands the art of communication with me". She made the comments during an interview with LBC's Iain Dale, following Andrew's out of court settlement with Virginia Giuffre in February.
asked if she would marry the Duke of York again if she could go back in time during an interview with the UK’s Times Radio, she replied, “Oh, yes. He’s a very good and kind man. He’s a good man.”She even looked back fondly at the pair’s 1986 wedding day, calling it “exceptional and extraordinary.””I think my life is an amazing life,” Ferguson continued.

Prince Andrew has reportedly asked the Queen to reinstate his HRH title due to his status as a 'blood prince' – being one of Her Majesty's four children. Last year, the Duke of York, 62, found himself embroiled in an alleged sex scandal involving Virginia Giuffre, which he ended up settling out of court for £12million, causing the Queen to strip him of his well-respected royal titles.

Despite trying to heal the divide when Prince Philip passed, it seems still much frostiness remained with reports suggesting that three royals snubbed Prince Harry at the funeral.
Prince Harry may need to “return to the royal family” to “take pressure” off the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, a royal expert has claimed. Tina Brown, author of The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor-the Truth and the Turmoil, said the current form of the monarchy is “looking a bit skeletal” as it wasn’t meant to “lose Andrew and Harry”. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior members of the royal family in 2020 and moved to California in the US to pursue other projects.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ‘unlikely’ to move back to the UK, according to an expert. Royal expert Russell Myers appeared on ITV’s Lorraine on Monday to discuss the events of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, celebrating 70 years of the Monarch’s service.

A palace spokesman said: “After undertaking a routine test the Duke has tested positive for Covid and with regret will no longer be attending tomorrow’s service.” It is understood Andrew saw the Queen in the last few days but has been undertaking regular testing and has not seen her since he tested positive. Andrew, 62, could not been seen on the balcony earlier today as only working royals were by the Queen's side for the Trooping the Colour.
