Appeal as boy, 16, left with serious head injury in alleged attack

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward after a boy was allegedly attacked in Rochdale.
The 16-year-old was reportedly assaulted on Tweedale Street on Thursday, March 9. He sustained a serious head injury, police said.
Officers investigating the incident now want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time. A statement on the GMP Rochdale Facebook page said: "#APPEAL | Police in Rochdale appeal for information.

"On Thursday 9 March, GMP were called to Tweedale Street, Rochdale, to reports of an alleged assault. The victim, a 16-year-old boy, sustained a serious head injury – although this is thankfully not believed to be life-threatening.
"Officers continue to follow a number of lines of enquiry and appeal to members of public for information and ask that anyone who may have been in the area at the time to please come forward. Any information, please contact police on 0161 856 8424 quoting log - 1825 of 9/3/23.
"Alternatively, information can be shared anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111."
