EXCLUSIVE: Chad Powers has found its first director.
Tony Yacenda, creator of Netflix’s American Vandal, will direct the pilot episode of the Hulu comedy series stars Glen Powell.
Yacenda will also exec produce the half-hour series, which is based on an Eli Manning sketch that aired on ESPN+.
Powell stars alongside Perry Mattfeld and Frankie A. Rodriguez in the series, which also recently cast Steve Zahn.
The series follows a hotshot quarterback whose college career ends after bad behavior. He then disguises himself as the talented and affable Chad Powers, who walks onto a struggling Southern football team.
Co-creators and executive producers are Powell and Michael Waldron (Loki), who also wrote the pilot. It hails from 20th Television. Manning serves as executive producer along with Omaha Productions’ Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown and ESPN. Waldron and Adam Fasullo are producing for Anomaly Pictures while Powell is EPing under his production co-banner Brainstorm.
Yacenda also recently directed Paramount+ series Players and has directed multiple episodes of FXX comedy series Dave.
