But it turns out you don't have to fiddle around with a saucepan and boiling water to make the perfect poached egg - in fact, you don't need them at all, according to one 'amazing' hack on social media.
The Express reports that TikTokker @danarebeccadesigns shared the 'fast and easy' trick in a short video which took the internet by storm.
It involves breaking an egg into a small Pyrex bowl and adding just enough water to cover the yolk. The bowl is then placed in the microwave for a specific amount of time, depending on the microwave's power, resulting in a perfectly poached egg.
Depending on your microwave, it can take differing amounts of time for the egg to poach fully. People who had tried the hack at home claimed that it took anywhere from 36 to 45 seconds to achieve the desired consistency.
You can also add a pinch of salt to the water or poke the yolk with a toothpick to prevent it from exploding in the microwave, or cover the top of the bowl in clingfilm.
Hundreds of people flocked to the comments to thank the woman for sharing her advice.
One person wrote: "AMAZING HACK!!!" while another expressed his gratitude, saying, "Just tried it after watching this and they came out great! Fast and easy. Thank you as well."
