An inquest has been held into the death of an "amazing father" who tragically died after collapsing in a pub.
Paul Hughes, aged 56, passed away on May 30, 2021, after collapsing in the boozer.
The retired labourer, from Holywell, Wales, died from alcohol toxicity and fatty liver disease at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd Hospital just two hours after the fall, which occurred just before 11pm on May 29.
North Wales Live reports that Mr Hughes had just "got his life back together", according to a woman who is employed at the Boars Head, and was living with his teenage daughter at the time.
The pair were "immensely happy in each other's company" and Paul's life had changed considerably for the better as a result, his brother told the court.
His daughter had gone to stay with relatives at the time. The inquest heard that Paul would not drink to excess when she was with him at their home, but that he would go to the pub with his friends when she was away.
After spending several hours at the pub, Paul collapsed as he was being escorted from the beer garden by the bouncer who is also a paramedic, John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales east and central, heard at Ruthin County Hall on January 11.
Following his collapse, Paul was unconscious and was breathing slowly, according to the bouncer who also carried out CPR on the 56-year-old and attempted to insert an airway into his mouth unsuccessfully.
Paramedics were called to the scene at 11:05pm and arrived 13 minutes later.
In a statement, a paramedic who attended the incident said that "the patient remained unresponsive throughout" when receiving full life support.
Paul was then taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd at around 00:25am but his death was verified shortly afterwards at 00:39am after
