Amanda Holden has opened up about her fears for the future as her daughters, Lexi, 18, and Hollie, 12, grow up and prepare to leave home. Speaking on her show Amanda and Alan's Italian Job with Alan Carr, the Britain's Got Talent star became emotional as she discussed the day her girls fly the nest.
"When your children, when they leave home, you only spend a year of your life with them ever again. They say you have 18 summers and then you're lucky to see them," she said.
Amanda, who shares her daughters with husband Chris Hughes, couldn't hold back the tears as she added: "It's so terrible because you wish so much of it away when you're a busy parent... and then you turn around and they're not even there."
Sharing a clip of the poignant conversation on Instagram, Amanda urged her followers to "enjoy every moment", reports the Mirror. "Time flies. Enjoy it." she wrote.
Amanda's candid admission resonated with many fans, including Loose Women star Ruth Langsford, who commented: "You're right...it flies SO quickly....enjoy every second that you can." Another follower wrote: "I was broken when mine left - but believe me they keep coming back." While a third said: "Can't even watch it without welling up about mine leaving! Feeling churned up inside and with tears in my eyes for you and for me."
