Almost one in five LGBTQ people have experienced homelessness at some point in their lifetimes, according to a new study from the Williams Institute.
According to the study, 17 percent of sexual minority adults had experienced homelessness in their lives. This is almost triple the rate of cisgender straight people (6 percent). Of those that had experienced homelessness, 71 percent experienced it for the first time as an adult, and 20 percent before the age of 18.
