The Highway Code has been given a major revamp with a number of important changes to come into force next weekend.
Changes to the Highway Code, which contains advice and rules for people on Britain’s roads, will affect cyclists, drivers, horse riders and pedestrians.
The updated code is set to come into force on Saturday, January 29, pending parliamentary approval.
However, a new survey suggests that as many as one in three drivers are unaware of the rules changes.

Some 33 per cent of motorists polled for the AA said they did not know about the new code, including four per cent who said they had “no intention” of looking at the details.
The changes will introduce a new risk-based hierarchy of road users.
Drivers will have more responsibility to watch out for people cycling, walking or riding a horse, while cyclists will have more responsibility to be aware of pedestrians.

The major change to the code is the introduction of a new road user hierarchy.
Road users who can do the greatest harm - such as those driving lorries and other vehicles - have the greatest responsibility to reduce the danger or threat they may pose to other road users.
According to the government, the objective of the hierarchy is not to give priority to pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders in every situation, but rather to ensure "a more mutually respectful and considerate culture of safe and effective road use that benefits all users".
Pedestrians will be at the top of the hierarchy, followed by cyclists, horse riders, motorcyclists then car drivers.
