Dozens of buses serving communities across Greater Manchester have been hit by delays after a horror lunchtime crash opposite the bus station at Piccadilly Gardens.
A single-decker Diamond bus - the X50 service to the Trafford Centre - ploughed into the front of the newly-opened T4 tea shop on Parker Street, which runs adjacent to the station near the entrance to the City Tower office block.
North West Ambulance Service confirmed 'a number of casualties', but said it couldn't, as yet, give further details on how many people have been taken to hospital as a result.
The Manchester Evening News understands multiple people have been injured in the collision this afternoon. The nature of their injuries has not yet been confirmed. It is understood that at least one of the casualties was a pedestrian.
Piccadilly Bus Station has been closed completely to all buses, said transport bosses as police investigations continue at the scene.

As a result, buses are using alternative stops in the city centre. The closure will impact all buses that stop at Piccadilly.
As Monday evening rush-hour approaches, Transport for Greater Manchester issued advice to passengers on where to catch their buses from.
Metrolink services, meanwhile, are continuing to run, but will not stop at Piccadilly Gardens.
TfGM said: "Due to an ongoing police incident involving a bus, Piccadilly Gardens is currently closed to all bus services. All buses are using alternative stops in the city centre."
Passengers are advised to use the following stops at this time:
Chorlton Street, Portland Street and Sackville Street are also being used.
