EXCLUSIVE: Addison Sharp has been promoted to Head of Development and Production at Iron Ocean, the production company of Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple, Deadline can exclusively reveal.
Starting at the company as a Development Executive just last year, Sharp will now oversee all development and production across film, television, and unscripted, reporting directly to Biel and Purple.
Prior to Iron Ocean, Sharp held positions at Gloria Sanchez Productions, HBO Max (pre- and post-merger), and started her career in entertainment in the mailroom at WME.
Said Biel and Purple in a joint statement to Deadline, “We couldn’t be happier to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Addison on her well-deserved promotion to Head of Development and Production. Her remarkable contributions have already left a lasting impact on our team, and we’re looking forward to working even closer with her as part of company leadership.”
Stated Sharp, “I’m thrilled to be involved at Iron Ocean in a larger capacity. Jessica and Michelle have built such an impressive company, and I couldn’t be more motivated to continue to develop our projects and grow our slate in this new role.”
Founded in 2007, Iron Ocean’s mission is to tell powerful stories that enhance female voices for all audiences. Most recently, the company produced Freeform’s Cruel Summer, which set ratings records for the network in both of its two seasons and won the Hollywood Critics Association’s award for Best Cable Drama Series.
Through Iron Ocean, Biel and Purple also served as EPs on Candy, the limited series starring Biel as axe murderer Candy Montgomery, which had the best debut of any Hulu title since the fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale hit the platform in May 2021.
