EXCLUSIVE: Eli Roth’s cast for his upcoming horror pic Thanksgiving looks to be getting bigger and splashier by the day as sources tell Deadline Addison Rae has joined the cast of the film based on the fake trailer from the double feature Grindhouse. Patrick Dempsey also recently boarded the cast.
Spyglass Media is producing the pic, with Roth directing. Jeff Rendel penned the script, with plans to shoot in March. Roger Birnbaum and Roth are producing.
Spyglass had no comment.
The Thanksgiving trailer presented the gory teaser about a pseudo movie in which a slasher makes his own carving board out of the inhabitants of a Massachusetts town that makes a big annual fuss over the annual turkey day. One of the pivotal scenes involved Roth himself, separated from his head while in the throes of passion with a date in a convertible. It was popular enough that plans formulated to make a feature-length blood feast with Roth at the helm, but 15 years has passed since the original Grindhouse release and you could be forgiven for thinking that Thanksgiving was never coming.
Rae recently signed a massive multi-million dollar deal with Netflix that rivals any major A-lister’s overall pact at the streamer. Given her global influencer due to her massive TikTok following, which has more then 80 million followers, more and more companies see her as having an immediate impact on the projects they are developing at their companies.
Following the success of her breakout Netflix pic He’s All That, studio have been lining up to get in business with the rising star and a scream queen role like the one in Thanksgiving is the exact kind of role she had been keeping an eye out for.

TriStar Pictures has acquired Spyglass Media Group‘s “Thanksgiving,” a full-length slasher film inspired by the fake trailer from Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s double feature “Grindhouse,” according to an insider with knowledge of the project.Roth is attached to direct the horror thriller film. “Thanksgiving” is co-written by Roth and Jeff Rendell, with Roger Birnbaum, Roth and Rendell producing.Chatter has existed about turning the jokey trailer into an actual movie, with Roth having written a screenplay over a dozen years ago.

Beyond The Weeknd, a Grammy-winning recording juggernaut, the film also stars Jenna Ortega, the star of “Wednesday” and “Scream VI,” as well as Barry Keoghan, the Oscar-nominated actor from “The Banshees of Inisherin” and “The Killing of a Sacred Deer.”

Ray Liotta's family and famous friends gathered on Friday to pay tribute to the late actor as he received a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.The actor died in his sleep on May 26, 2022, while in production on an upcoming film,, in the Dominican Republic, but he was aware of the Walk of Fame honor prior to his death.Liotta's daughter, Karsen, spoke at the ceremony, and she shared exclusively with ET's Will Marfuggi how much the honor meant to her father. «It was a huge honor for him and he was proud of himself, as me and my whole family were,» she noted. «I know it was definitely very special to him and it was a monumental moment in his career.»The proud daughter also said her dad would have been «surprised» by the outpouring of support following his death.«I mean, of course everybody loved him, but he didn't look at his life and his work as if everybody's watching all the time,» she explained.

The show, which was previously titled “Super Close,” will be produced by Fremantle’s Dancing Ledge Productions. It was written and created by Camilla Whitehill (“Porters”). “Brooklyn Nine Nine” director Rebecca Asher is also on board to helm the six part series, which is set to start shooting this spring. Fremantle will handle global sales. According to the logline, the show “is a vivacious and rebellious portrayal of female friendship when infiltrated by the complexities of a serious mental illness.”
