ABC News has settled a lawsuit brought by a former Good Morning America producer, who claimed that the network ignored her sexual misconduct complaints about her boss at the show, Michael Corn.
Kirstyn Crawford had sued the network and Corn in 2021, claiming that Corn sexually assaulted her during a trip to Los Angeles in 2015, when the show was covering the Academy Awards. Corn denied the claims, calling them “demonstrably false.” The terms of the settlement were not disclosed. Corn also was part of the settlement, but his attorney did not immediately return a request for comment. He left GMA in 2021 and is now at NewsNation.
A spokesperson for ABC News said in a statement, “ABC News and Ms. Crawford have resolved their dispute, and Ms. Crawford’s lawsuit against the company is now concluded. ABC News thanks Ms. Crawford for courageously speaking out about her experience at ABC News, and Ms. Crawford thanks ABC News for its prompt response to her formal complaint in 2021.”
A New York judge dismissed Crawford’s lawsuit last year, but an appeals court revived some of the claims last June, finding that he hostile work environment and sex discrimination claims were still timely. The appellate court also found that claims relating to Corn’s prior alleged misconduct toward other women was relevant to the case.
