A section of the A9 has been closed in both directions following a horror crash this afternoon.
Emergency services raced to the road between Tore and Munlochy, north of Inverness, after the alarm was raised at around 10am on Sunday February 6.
Mercy crews were responding to reports of a 'serious road crash' involving one vehicle.
Officers quickly closed the road and say it is expected to remain shut for some time.
The extent of any injuries as a result of the incident are so far unclear.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes with the road blocked between the B9161 and A835, according to Inrix.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Road Policing officers are advising motorists that the A9 has been closed in both directions, between Tore and Munlochy, following a serious road crash.
"The incident took place around 10am and involves one vehicle.
"The road is expected to be closed for some time and motorists are advised to use alternative routes."
