“We’re working on something else now, another TV show that’s connected to that universe…I can’t quite say,” he teased during the conversation, following the recently debuted Peacemaker spinoff series with John Cena.
He also addressed the idea of a second season of that show, saying: “There’s a really good chance of that.”
“We’re the biggest show in the world right now,” he continued, speaking from the set of Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
James Gunn has reportedly approached HBO Max with the idea for another series built around one of the characters in Suicide Squad, via Deadline, and it’s still in the “embryonic stages with nothing written or greenlit.”
He did not elaborate on which characters might get the series, but when asked about the possibility of Peter Capaldi‘s Thinker, he said: “I can’t say anything. It is connected to this universe, and I don’t think it will be the same genre as Peacemaker, it won’t be as much a comedy as Peacemaker, but it will be in the same universe.”
He added of Season 2 of Peacemaker: “The show is doing extraordinarily well, and we’re excited, we all like doing it, we just need to cross some Ts and dot some Is, which is basically me.”

Will Smith would love to see David Ayer’s cut of “Suicide Squad” released.
The Snyder Cut fandom is one of the most vocal on social media when it comes to superhero films, leading the charge for years (using both positive and disgustingly negative means) to finally get the preferred cut of “Justice League” released. Now, a lot of those folks are trying to drum up support for the David Ayer Cut of “Suicide Squad.” Though everyone agrees that the original director’s cut of that film is likely better than the shoddy theatrical cut that was released, there doesn’t seem to be any indication that WB has any interest in actually putting money into it, especially considering James Gunn has taken that world and revamped it with his “The Suicide Squad” and “Peacemaker” projects.
