The Rookie is potentially getting a spinoff series!
ABC revealed plans for a show starring Niecy Nash, THR reported.
The 51-year-old Claws actress will guest star on The Rookie in a two-episode arc as the oldest rookie in the FBI Academy.
The episodes are described as a backdoor pilot for a new franchise to come from the cop drama.
Niecy will play Simone Clark, who is “the living embodiment of a dream deferred. In the episodes, her trainee will unite with LAPD officer John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and the L.A. division of the FBI who enlist Clark when one of her former students is suspected of terrorism following an explosion at a local power station.”
A premiere date has not yet been set for the episodes.
“I’m so excited to guest star on The Rookie and bring Simone Clark to life! She is a spirited and spicy fish out of water. The cast is amazing and I can’t wait to play!” Niecy said in a statement.
