PETA activists set up a pop up graveyard for 15 orcas and dolphins in a protest against the partnership between budget airline Jet2 with marine parks. The demonstration was part of a campaign by PETA calling for Jet2 to sever their ties with popular destinations like the Loro Parque in Tenerife over the alleged mistreatment of the sea animals.
Loro Parque have described PETA's claims as 'unfounded' and lacking in 'credibility' and say they have been victims of attacks by the nonprofit organisation for several years. Jet2, who offer a package to visit the park, say they are 'aware' of the debate around venues like Loro Parque and are committed to 'only working with venues that agree to uphold the highest standards.'
PETA held their demonstration in the city centre, where tombstones were placed on the steps of the St Peter's Square cross. On the tombstones were names of the orcas or dolphins who have passed away while in captivity.

Manchester was chosen for the protest by PETA due to the number of Jet2 flights that leave Manchester Airport.

PETA activist Molly Edelson told the MEN: "PETA's here today in Manchester to call on Jet2 to reject marine parks and to stop promoting them to their customers. They're one of the last
