The lives of Dylan Scanlon's loved ones will never be the same again. The five-year-old's mother Claire was today (Friday) jailed for life, with a minimum term of 18, years for his murder.
She poisoned him with anti-depressants. The public gallery was packed at Scanlon's sentencing hearing. The 38-year-old refused to attend. She refused to get out of bed at her psychiatric hospital.
Family members wept as proceedings got underway, wearing t-shirts printed with an image of the adorable little boy. They kissed his innocent face as justice was finally done.

Emergency services were called to Dylan's home on Elm Road, Limeside, Oldham, on New Year's Eye, 2021. The unresponsive child was declared dead at the scene.
A post mortem later revealed he had over 60 bruises to his body, 30 of which were to his head and neck. But a toxicology report revealed his death was caused by poisoning. He had nine times the fatal adult dose of an anti-depressants in his system.
A police investigation uncovered a large number of 'angry' voicemails from Scanlon to her ex-partner, Dylan's dad Gary Keenan, in which she said he left her for another woman while she struggled to live 'emotionally, practically and financially' as a single mum.
Prosecutors said Scanlon was 'very angry and depressed' following the breakdown of the relationship. In one voicemail, she said: "I promise you, you won't see him again. You'll see. Bye. Go and enjoy your life."
"You decided to take him away from everyone who loved him," Justice Amanda Yip said. "That was a selfish decision to hurt those you were angry with."
