The Divergent film series, based on Veronica Roth‘s novels, is the sort of classic teen movie that defined a generation.
Set in a dystopian world, the series focused on Tris (Shailene Woodley) and her many adventures. It also highlighted her romance with Tobias Eaton (Theo James), more commonly known as Four.
While Shailene was the only actress in the running to play Tris, Theo faced some competition to play the male lead in the series.
The Divergent series has officially arrived on Netflix this month. In honor of the occasion, we rounded up eight stars who also auditioned for the role.
Interestingly, very few actors have discussed the audition process. However, multiple reports at the time suggested that these stars were brought in to screentest alongside Shailene.
The list includes one of Theo‘s key costars and an actor from the Hunger Games franchise!
