55-year-old man battered and robbed by gang of teens in broad daylight

Police in West Lothian are appealing for information and witnesses after a 55-year-old man was assaulted and robbed by a gang of teenagers in broad daylight near a popular park.
The frightening incident took place near Blackburn Skatepark, in the Ash Grove area, at around 3.35pm on Monday.
The victim had been sitting on a park bench when he was attacked and left with two black eyes and a head wound that needed stitches.
He was robbed of a rucksack in the incident and taken to hospital for treatment. The suspects are described as four male teens, all wearing black clothing.
The victim’s niece took to Facebook to appeal for information to help find the culprits.
She said: “My uncle was very badly assaulted at the skate park today around 5pm ish, he was sitting on the bench and approached by five or six youths who attacked him.
“Currently unsure of description but will find out once he’s better. 2 black eyes, split head and needs stitches.
The police are involved, if anyone knows anything please get in contact this is a very urgent matter and I desperately would like some help or information.
They also took his phone, a black Motorola with leather flip case
Detective Constable Chris Watson, from Livingston CID, said: “We’re appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the attack, or may have seen the group of youths nearby on Sunday afternoon, to please come forward.
“Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, quoting incident 2694 of 8 May, 2023. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
