Lesley McKenzie Managing EditorSince the 1998 debut of “Sex and the City,” Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw has shaped the fashion landscape with her boundary-pushing, experimental style mashup of haute couture, vintage pieces, thrift finds and up-and-coming designers. With the series follow-up “And Just Like That … ,” Bradshaw’s sartorial risk-taking more than two decades later has shown no signs of slowing down thanks to Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago, who took the costume design baton from “SATC” legend Patricia Field.
Ahead of the season finale, we round up some of Carrie’s standout “AJLT” looks — including a few original, sentimental “SATC” closet favorites that make welcome returns. 1Episode 4 sees Carrie channeling original “SATC” vibes when she steps out in a billowing white tulle skirt and Chanel boots, with a recognizable sequined purple Fendi baguette bag.
The original bag, seen in “SATC,” was part of Fendi’s fall/winter 1999-2000 collection; timed to the debut of “AJLT,” the fashion house issued a limited-edition rerelease of the “it” bag.2With Carrie headed to see her publisher in Episode 7, her flair for vintage is in full effect, as evidenced by her gray Jean Paul Gaultier spring 1997 jumpsuit, paired with a purple blazer, polka-dotted blouse and red tie. No stranger to the designer, Carrie was also seen sporting Gaultier in Season 2 of “Sex and the City” in the form of an Obi wrap dress.3Marking her return to dating in Episode 7, Carrie dons a shirred Norma Kamali Diana dress in powder blue.
