16 Best Body Sunscreen, Recommended by Dermatologists 2023

or , as any dermatologist will tell you, the best body sunscreen is a key part of your daily routine in order to protect against skin cancer and sun damage from head to toe. What should you look for, exactly? Unlike a face-specific counterpart, keep in mind a body sunscreen needs to spread easily and evenly over a large surface area, says , board-certified dermatologist at Schweiger Dermatology Group in New York City. And, ideally, you’re reaching for a bottle that’s at least to slather onto the top and back of hands (!), arms, legs, shoulders, feet—anywhere really that's getting sun exposure. If you plan to swim or sweat, , MD-FAAD, a board-certified dermatologist based in NYC, recommends especially looking for “a formulation that is water-resistant, and that includes moisturizing ingredients to support the skin barrier.”As for spray versus lotion, , a Manhattan-based board-certified dermatologist, recommends the latter.

Colin Farrell, Mariska Hargitay, Danny Strong and More Stars Rally at WGA Picket Line Outside Paramount in Times Square

Jennifer Maas TV Business Writer Colin Farrell, Mariska Hargitay, Danny Strong, Paula Pell, Rachel Dratch, Michael Kelly and Craig Zobel were among the stars who came out to the writers strike picket line outside Paramount Global’s New York City office in Times Square Thursday. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D.-N.Y., and local politicians spoke at the event in support of the Writers Guild of America’s (WGA) cause against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) that has led to a four-week-and-counting work stoppage due to the organizations’ inability to ink a new contract May 1. “This is about what’s right. We’ve seen income inequality grow exponentially over the last decade; and in your business, it has never been more present,” Gillibrand said to the crowd, filled with not only WGA members, but also those from SAG-AFTRA, IATSE and Teamsters, among other unions. “We see writers working hard every day to produce content and we have an unfair playing field. Not only does AI want to displace our writers, they simply can’t. AI generates content based on what’s been written before the work you did last year, and the year before. It’s not original. It’s not imaginative. It doesn’t come from the human heart. It’s not about a human experience. It’s not about what people actually want to learn about or know about or see or experience. That is what writers bring to the equation every single time. So this strike is so important for the future of this country. It’s about the value of workers; workers and what they create is fundamentally valuable.”

Peabody Awards Cancels This Year’s Ceremony Due to Writers Strike

Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large The Peabody Awards won’t be throwing a return celebration this year after all. The org has scrapped this years event, which would have been the first in-person Peabody ceremony since 2019 (before the pandemic), in the wake of the writers strike. Originally set to be held on Sunday, June 11, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, this also would have been the first Peabody Awards to be held in Southern California. “As an organization dedicated to honoring the most compelling and empowering stories in broadcasting and streaming media, we recognize and respect the position that many of this year’s Peabody Award winners find themselves in,” the org said in a statement. “Due to the ongoing uncertainty and meaningful challenges that exist industrywide, we have decided to cancel the 83rd annual Peabody Awards ceremony that was set to take place on June 11 in Los Angeles. Canceling the ceremony is extremely disappointing as this year’s 39 winners are immensely talented and have brought forth powerful stories that deserve to be celebrated.”
