2022 Critics Choice Awards are being postponed amid COVID-19 concerns.With the Omicron variant and rising cases of the coronavirus, the organization has decided to put a pause on its upcoming in-person ceremony, which was scheduled to be hosted by Taye Diggs and Nicole Byer on Sunday, Jan. 9 in Los Angeles.

JFM, which has a motion picture development deal with Sony Pictures, has signed on to produce the film that follows Ridgeway’s award-winning comedy-drama Death of a Telemarketer recently acquired by Sony Pictures. 

The Goonies-inspired drama that was previously set up at Fox has moved to Disney+.

There has been a lot of controversy over the HFPA going forward with the Golden Globe Awards considering the events of the past year (including NBC deciding to skip airing this year’s ceremony), but the Critics Choice Awards is no stranger to criticism. Especially surrounding its founder, who has been obsessed with turning the group historically made up of local television entertainment reporters into a legit awards body for decades.

Taye Diggs and Nicole Byer are taking over the 2022 Critics Choice Awards.The two stars will be co-hosting the 27th annual awards show, taking place Sunday, Jan. 9.

Squid Game has been nominated for Best Drama Series at the upcoming 27th Critics Choice Awards.On Monday (December 6), the Critics Choice Association announced its nominees for the upcoming 2022 ceremony. Among the nominations were Squid Game, which has become the first non-English programme to be up for Best Drama Series, per Variety.
