‘Citadel’ Star Priyanka Chopra Jonas Pushes Back on Reports of Strained Production: ‘Every Production Will Have Growing Pains’

reported the action series was on track to become the second most expensive show ever made with a budget nearing $465 million. “We had multiple studios that we worked out of, we had local crews around the world that contributed to this one particular show,” Chopra Jonas continued. “This one particular season, we had writers around the world that we’re creating threads that connected all of these different shows together.”The series, which premieres April 28 on Prime Video, follows former Citadel agents Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Chopra Jonas) as they attempt to rebuild the spy agency with the help of agent lead Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci) after it fell to operatives of the shadowy syndicate Manticore eight years prior. Billed as a “large-scope, multi-layered international event series,” the first season is expected to build a franchise with spin-offs taking place around the world — an aspect Chopra Jonas says created “hurdles” for the “ginormous undertaking.”“When you’re trying to push the envelope, and you’re trying to … create something that pushes the envelope of entertainment a little bit further, you’re bound to have hurdles,” Chopra Jonas said.

Diversity Progresses in Still White Male Dominated Brazilian Production Sector

Marcelo Cajueiro RIO DE JANEIRO — In Brazil, where the majority of the population are of African origin, persons of color are traditionally under-represented on above-the-line TV and film production. This, however, is gradually changing. For the past years, POC talents, as well as residents from the impoverished urban areas, LGBTQ  and indigenous people, have gained ground in the still white-male dominated production sector. The diversity drive resisted four years of an extreme-right government and ironically benefited indirectly from it, in the view of director and screenwriter Janaina Oliveira, vice-president of local Association of Black Audiovisual Professionals (APAN).

Hear Drake sample Kim Kardashian on his first solo single for the year, ‘Search & Rescue’

Drake has returned with his first solo single for the year, a moody head-bopper titled ‘Search & Rescue’ – on which he samples Kim Kardashian. As revealed yesterday (April 6) after Drake previewed the song on SiriusXM Radio, Kardashian is sampled after the first chorus of ‘Search & Rescue’, with a snippet of the model and socialite talking about her separation from ex-husband Kanye West in 2021.The sample itself comes from the series finale of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, when she tells her mother (Kris Jenner): “I didn’t come this far, just to come this far and not be happy. Remember that.”Drake himself had a longstanding feud with West, which seemed to end after their joint headline performance at the “Free Larry Hoover” benefit concert in 2021.

How Broadway Got ‘Shucked’: The 12-Year Journey to a Riotous Production That Could Be the Musical-Comedy Sleeper of the Season

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic The verdicts on the new Broadway musical-comedy “Shucked” are in, and the critics have asked you to lend them your ears — so to speak — as they’ve cobbled together their reactions to the possible sleeper hit. (Sorry, but once you’ve seen the production, it may take you six months or longer to stop speaking in puns.) Variety’s critic wrote that “with its exuberance, heart and non-stop yucks, ‘Shucked’ is the surprise delight of the Broadway season.” The New York Post’s notice trumpeted it as “Broadways’s best and funniest new musical.” Time Out said the show leaves theatergoers “gorged to satisfaction on a big, tasty bag of Broadway puff.” Entertainment Weekly wrote that “its refreshing embrace of diversity and unapologetically corny sincerity can definitely put a smile on your face.” Even one of the minority that was harder on it, the New York Times’ Jesse Green, begrudgingly admitted of the parade of laughs: “forced into submission,,” he wrote, “you eventually give in.”
