EXCLUSIVE: Jack O’Connell and Matthew Duckett have joined Golden Globe Winner Emma Corrin in Lady Chatterley’s Lover for Sony’s 3000 Pictures and Netflix. This will be the first film to be produced under the new partnership where Sony Pictures will offer Netflix a first look at any films it intends to make for streaming.

Cameron Diaz (Charlie’s Angels) is coming out of retirement for a Netflix film titled Back in Action, in which she’ll star opposite Jamie Foxx (Day Shift).

Cameron Diaz is officially back in action in “Back In Action.” After retiring from Hollywood in 2013, the actress returns to star in a new Netflix action-comedy with Jamie Foxx. The duo also worked together on 1999’s “Any Given Sunday” and the 2014 “Annie” remake.

Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent Mélanie Laurent, who broke through in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds” and has since made a name for herself as a filmmaker, is back in the director’s chair with “Wingwomen,” coming to Netflix Nov. 1. The movie, in which Laurent stars alongside Adèle Exarchopoulos, Manon Bresch and Isabelle Adjani, is a rare breed of action-comedy driven by fearless female characters. Laurent and Exarchopoulos star as high-profile thieves and best friends who decide to retire from their life on the run. They recruit Sam, a young and feisty car racer (Bresch) to assist them with one last job, but quickly clash with their godmother’s will (Adjani).

Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent Netflix has ordered a sequel to “Troll,” the Norwegian action-adventure film directed by Roar Uthaug, who helmed Norway’s first disaster movie, “The Wave.” “Troll 2” reteams Uthaug (“Tomb Raider”) with writer Espen Aukan andproducers Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud at Motion Blur, the Oslo-based banner whose credits include “Cadaver,” “Amundsen” and “The 12th Man.” The first installment unfolds in the aftermath of an explosion in the Norwegian mountains, which awakens an ancient troll. The story revolves around a fearless paleontologist who embarks on a journey to stop the troll from wreaking deadly havoc.

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief Indonesian genre specialist Timo Tjahjanto has begun production on “The Shadow Strays,” a new action film project. Tjahjanto is one half of a writing-directing pair with Kimo Stamboel that are colloquially known as the Mo Brothers and previously delivered “Headshot.” However, it was as a solo director that Tjahjanto (“May the Devil Take You Too,” “The Night Comes for Us”) was signed to a multi-film deal with Netflix in 2022. He delivered his first picture under that arrangement later that year. “The Big 4” debuted in Netflix’s non-English language top ten.

Netflix has announced a second feature film with Indonesian action director Timo Tjahjanto, The Shadow Strays, starring a large ensemble cast of popular young actors.

The horror comedy film is based on the hit manga (comic book series) by Aso Haro and Takata Kotaro that debuted in the Shogakukan magazine Monthly Sunday Gene-X in October 2018. It has also spawned an animated series that plays on Hulu in North American and other territories. The underlying comic is a wackily original melding of the salaryman gag manga – a popular genre in Japan seldom exported abroad – with the sort of zombie holocaust story that has become a Hollywood staple.

Riordan, best known as the author of the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” books, shared the news while responding to question from a fan on Goodreads. “Right now, Kane Chronicles is in ‘turnaround,’ which means Netflix has decided not to move forward and their option has lapsed after trying for two years to develop a script they liked,” he wrote.

K.J. Yossman Graduates of Netflix’s first ever Documentary Talent Fund have launched their short films.Ten U.K.-based filmmakers were chosen to receive £40,000 ($54,000) as well as mentorship and access to production workshops covering legal, creative, HR, production and finance in order to create a short film with the brief of “Britain’s Not Boring And Here’s a Story.”The ten films received their premieres in London on Wednesday evening and will be livestreamed on Netflix’s 21.9 million strong TikTok page at 7pm GMT on Feb.

Netflix‘s live-action adaptation of the anime classic Avatar: The Last Airbender is now out, and a lot of fans of the original are not happy about it.The series runs for eight episodes and follows Aang, the last survivor of the airbender tribe as he trains to become the Avatar after he is discovered frozen in a block of ice. Once he’s freed, he has to learn and master all four elements – Air, Water, Earth and Fire – in order to defeat Firelord Ozai and, with the help of Katara and Sokka, liberate the world from his authoritarian rule.This adaptation stars Gordon Cormier (Lost In Space, The Stand) in the lead role as Aang, while Kiawentiio (Anne with an E) plays Katara.

Netflix, Sky Team For Writing Fellowship Netflix and Sky have joined forces with Sex Education writer Bisha K Ali to launch a UK screenwriting fellowship for people from under-represented backgrounds. Jaden Thompson Netflix has just released the official trailer for live-action version of “One Piece,” about a group of young pirates. Set to be released August 31, the show is an adaptation of the beloved manga series of the same name by Eiichiro Oda. The story follows a boy named Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) who can stretch his body like rubber and travels with a group of friends named the Straw Hat Pirates in search of a treasure known as One Piece, which would make him Pirate King. The manga has also been adapted into a long running anime series, making “One Piece” a story that already has a dedicated following. The new trailer features fast paced action sequences, lighthearted humor, and a myriad of fantastical occurrences and dangerous encounters. In one scene, Luffy promises that they will find the One Piece in the Grand Line, “a treacherous stretch of ocean with bigger islands and bigger pirates.”

Idris Elba and Richard Madden has topped the Netflix UK film chart.Bastille Day, directed and co-written by James Watkins, was released on the streaming service this week and has quickly become a hit on the platform. Believer will be produced as a Netflix original.On June 20, Netflix shared that it has greenlit the production of Believer 2, the sequel to 2018’s Believer starring veteran actors Cho Jin-woong (Signal) and Our Blues’ Cha Seung-won.The streaming giant has since confirmed its casting for the forthcoming film, with Cho and Cha, along with Kim Dong-young, returning in their original roles. In 1979 Peter Falk and the late great Alan Arkin made the perfect odd couple in the classic action comedy, The In-Laws. It even spawned a not-bad remake with Michael Douglas and Albert Brooks in 2003. The difference between those films, and a bit of an attempt to do something similar in the cleverly-titled The Out-Laws, which starts streaming on Netflix today, is that those movies were genuinely funny, particularly the Arkin-Falk teaming, but this one, also a kind of Meet The Parents on steroids, relies far too heavily on non-stop and incessant action scenes to carry us through its 95 minute running time.
