Zack Snyder Thinks New ‘Justice League’ Will Be Rated ‘R’; Says New Warner-HBO Max Theatrical Plan “Kind Of Throws A Monkey Wrench In The Works”

Given what has happened over the last year or so with the “Watchmen” franchise and its Emmy-winning success as an HBO miniseries, it’s interesting to look back at what might have happened decades earlier. Yes, before Damon Lindelof created his sequel story for HBO, and before Zack Snyder attempted to adapt the original comic book series as a feature film, Paul Greengrass was attached to a film version of the story.

What better way than to end 2020 with a Jared Leto story, right? In a recent interview with Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast, Leto was a guest to discuss his upcoming film, “The Little Things,” opposite Denzel Washington and Rami Malek, from director John Lee Hancock. Leto plays a serial killer in the film, and it opens on January 29, 2021, via Warner Bros.

While WarnerMedia may have concluded its internal investigation into “Justice League” star Ray Fisher’s allegations of mistreatment while filming the 2017 movie, his battle with the media giant is apparently far from over.

WarnerMedia has been getting an earful from creatives such as Christopher Nolan, Patty Jenkins, and Denis Villeneuve all voicing their concerns about the company releasing their entire 2021 slate of films on HBO Max with a new day-and-date model that certainly will place the streaming service in direct competition with traditional theaters and their ability to earn box office dollars.

The New York Times on Sunday outlined Hamada’s vision for a DC Films multiverse that can rival Marvel and provide content for both theaters and HBO Max.

While many are excited to finally watch Zack Snyder‘s original vision for “Justice League” with his version heading to HBO Max next year, younger viewers might be restricted from seeing his more mature edition. Or, at least restricted from seeing what seeing a big-screen version.
