If you’re stuck for Mother’s Day ideas then East Lancashire Railway is offering a rather unique gift which makes a change from the usual meal out. The heritage steam railway is bringing back its Mother’s Day dining experience due to popular demand.
Guests can enjoy a three course, silver-served meal aboard a traditional steam-hauled Pullman-style train as it passes through the picturesque Irwell Valley. Upon boarding you’ll be treated to a sparkling welcome drink, then you can sit back, relax and watch the beautiful scenery passing by.
After the meal, guests will be served coffee along with after-dinner chocolate. Boarding will commence at 12.10pm and will return to Bury Bolton Street Station at 3.10pm.

If you can’t make the Mother’s Day service but still want to treat your mum, then vouchers for other traditional luncheon experiences throughout the year will be available instead. Mike Kelly, Chairman of the East Lancashire Railway, said: “We’re so pleased to welcome our Mother’s Day dining experience back after being a complete sell out last year.
“Tickets are selling quickly, so make sure to book before they sell out. If you miss it, our Dining with Distinction trains run all year round, and never fails to be a favourite for foodies and train enthusiasts alike.”
Tickets cost £67.50pp for adults, and just £54.50pp for any children under 12. They can be bought on the East Lancashire Railway website here.
