A man has been found guilty of murdering his girlfriend as she screamed for help in their flat.

A young woman screamed for help from the balcony of her 14th floor flat moments before she was allegedly strangled to death by her boyfriend, a murder trial has heard.
Liam Cain today went on trial at Liverpool Crown Court accused of murdering his girlfriend Courtney Boorne. He denies the charge. Ms Boorne died aged 20 after being found unresponsive in their flat on Quarry Green Heights in Kirkby on December 23 last year.
A jury of four men and eight women heard this afternoon the couple had been in a relationship for around three years by the Christmas of 2022. Gordon Cole KC, prosecuting, described how care worker Ms Boorne was seen leaving for work at 6.30am on the day of her death, with Cain subsequently heading out at roughly 10.30am.
They were then captured on CCTV taking a bus home from Robson Street in Anfield, re-entering their address at 2.45pm. Shortly after 3.30pm, she phoned her mum Cheryl and told her "if she didn't hear from her within an hour to call the police, because something was going on".
Mr Cole told the court: "Courtney was concerned. Concerned that the defendant was going to take her phone from her, and she was concerned about that which the defendant had done to her in strangling her and getting hold of her."
Just over an hour later, a woman named Maureen Dixon - who lived in an adjacent block of flats - dialled 999 reporting that she could see a woman in an apartment opposite "screaming and climbing onto the window ledge". Mr Cole added: "Maureen Dixon said that the female appeared to be shouting at someone inside the flat.
"Courtney Boorne was heard to shout 'please'. She was crying and she was shouting, 'he has all the doors locked and he won't let me out'."
