Woman in her 80s injured after crash near hospital on busy road

A woman aged in her 80s was taken to hospital with a head injury after reports of a road traffic collision on a busy road in Oldham.
Emergency services were called to Oldham Road in Royton, Oldham, close to the Royal Oldham Hospital, at around 10am on Tuesday morning.
According to police, she was a pedestrian at the time the collision happened, although further details haven't been released. Her condition in hospital hasn't been further described either.
Traffic reports confirmed the road was closed in both directions between Sheepfoot Lane, beside the hospital, and Seville Street, next to Edge Hill care home. Diversions were put in place around the scene.
The busy route remained closed this lunchtime and police remained at the scene. The vehicle involved hasn't been described but police said the driver remained at the scene. No arrests have been made.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed officers were called to reports of a collision on Oldham Road at 10.15am. Paramedics, the force said, also attended near to the hospital.
In a statement, GMP said: "At around 10:15am this morning, officers were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle. Emergency services attended the scene and a woman in her 80s was taken to hospital.
"The driver remained at the scene and no arrests have been made. A scene remains in place while officers conduct further enquiries."
Her condition has not been further described. No further details have been released.
