A body was found in a river in Stockport town centre today (May 11), sparking a major response from emergency services.
Shortly before 12 noon, crews responded to the report of a body in the River Goyt — leading to a large presence along Millgate and Newbridge Lane, near to the Peel retail park.
When they arrived, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
