Wisconsin Republican legislators defy governor and place Christmas tree in state's capitol building

Christmas church services will look different for many Americans across the U.S. this year, as COVID-19 restrictions limit and alter gatherings.  Services that are usually attended by hundreds will be capped down to prevent transmission of the virus, as well as following social distancing guidelines.

Their second Christmas wish fared no better than their first. Two Wisconsin Republican lawmakers who put up an artificial Christmas tree in the state's Capitol Rotunda on Tuesday, just hours after a first tree was removed, found it had vanished on Wednesday morning.  The earlier attempt had been thwarted by Democratic Gov.Tony Evers, who said no permit had been provided for the display and that the coronavirus pandemic had closed the building to the public.

A coronavirus-obsessed Wisconsin man who authorities say stabbed four of his family members -- killing two of them -- earlier this year, was ordered this week to spend the rest of his life in a mental health institution, according to reports.  Adam Roth, 36, of Waukesha, was found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect in the March attack, which authorities said was linked to his worries about the virus.
