‘Will Trent’ Nabs Season 2 Renewal at ABC

The actor-foodie says he’s “pretty confident” that he’ll find a new home for his cooking and travel show, “Searching for Italy.” CNN canceled the two-season series in December when the network ended its development of original documentary programming. “We’re talking to different companies,” Tucci told me at the premiere of his new Amazon Prime Video series, “Citadel.” “We’ll find out in a few weeks.” The series received seven Emmy nominations, winning for outstanding hosted nonfiction series in 2021 and 2022.

During the May 24 Season 11 finale of “Chicago Fire,” Jesse Spencer will return to make a guest appearance. Taylor Kinney, who last appeared during the Feb. 22 episode and stepped away to deal with a personal matter, will not return. Spencer exited Dick Wolf’s firefighter procedural in 2021 after 200 episodes. He has made multiple appearances since his departure, including during Severide’s wedding on the Season 10 finale. He came back again earlier this season, starring in the April 5 episode, “Danger Is All Around.” At the time, his storyline was left open, hinting that Casey could return to Chicago. The character originally moved to Oregon to take care of a late friend’s children and made a three-year commitment to a new job.

Despite fan speculation, Chicago Fire star Taylor Kinney is not going to appear in the season 11 finale. As Deadline previously reported exclusively, the fan favorite who plays Kelly Severide, has been on a leave of absence since January, dealing with a personal matter. Chicago Fire alum Jesse Spencer, who starred as Matt Casey alongside Kinney for 10 seasons, returned earlier this season and will guest star again in the season finale.

Amazon’s Freevee has renewed Judy Justice for two additional seasons and will expand the franchise with the docudrama, Justice on Trial.

This weekend will see King Charles III and Queen Camilla officially crowned during their Coronation at Westminster Abbey. Charles, who instantly became monarch last September following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, will leave the Abbey with his wife and other senior members of the royal family and head back to Buckingham Palace, where they’ll pose on the iconic balcony for photographs.

Lomis died suddenly March 22, having just released MGM’s Creed III to record box office results; a win also for the studio’s streaming parent Amazon.

The Prince of Wales commemorated Australia and New Zealand’s war dead in a dawn service marking Anzac Day on Tuesday. Hundreds of Australians, New Zealanders, and military personnel watched as William laid a wreath of red poppies and white flowers at Wellington Arch, Hyde Park Corner in London.  The message on the wreath read: “In memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.” He wore a red poppy during the service, and bowed briefly to the wreath before standing in silent tribute for a few moments.

Matthew Perry says that nasty remarks he made about Keanu Reeves in his memoir released last autumn, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing will be omitted from future copies.
