The Marvel Cinematic Universe has expanded by leaps and bounds in the years since Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner first assembled to save the day.
However, the original six members of the team – Black Widow, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk and Hawkeye – hold a special place in the hearts of fans. So much so that there are always rumors that the stars have other MCU projects in the works.
The stories of many of the original members seemingly came to a close in recent years. Even still, the actors are asked about the franchise in almost every interview they have.
Of course, it doesn’t help that a massive report in late 2023 suggested that there were efforts to get the team back together again.
What are the chances of that happening? We rounded up the latest thing that each of the actors has said about their future with Marvel. The most recent comments were made in April 2024!

When Taika Waititi released “Thor: Ragnarok” in 2017, the refreshingly comedic take on God Of Thunder was overwhelmingly well received, with fans loving the more irreverent take on the Norse God. Most critics and fans still consider it the best “Thor” film.
Zack Sharf Digital News Director Chris Hemsworth graces the cover of Vanity Fair’s May 2024 issue, where he revealed that he feels Marvel fans deserve another “Thor” movie after the whiff that was 2022’s “Thor: Love and Thunder.” The actor already admitted to GQ last year that his fourth standalone “Thor” movie was “too silly” for its own good, but the misstep appears to continue to haunt him. “I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” Hemsworth told Vanity Fair. “I didn’t stick the landing.” While Hemsworth has always been grateful for his career-defining role as Thor, he admitted to the publication that he grew frustrated with the character while playing him in four standalone Marvel films and additional “Avengers” movies.
Chris Hemsworth filmed fighting scenes in an advert for ‘Clash of Clans’ in Los Angeles. Dressed as a barbarian, he joined other stars in battle, portraying various characters from the popular mobile video game.
In a podcast conversation from Empire with Oscar-nominated star Kerry Condon of “The Banshees Of Inisherin” and star of Liam Neeson’s recent thriller, “In The Lands Of Saints And Sinners,” which just came out in the U.K., the actress revealed some interesting tidbits about her time working with Marvel, such as keeping Iron Man’s death a secret. Condon voiced Marvel’s F.R.I.D.A.Y., the A.I.
Sometimes a movie is so well cast that you honestly cannot picture someone else playing a role. However, some perfect casting decisions very nearly don’t work out.
Following the massive success of “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame,” there was a time when the Russo Brothers were the biggest filmmakers on the planet, and most fans presumed, don’t worry, they’ll be back to direct “Avengers: Secret Wars.” But much has changed in the ensuing years. The Russos, via their AGBO company, have delivered two films in that time that they themselves have directed, the drama “Cherry” with Tom Holland for Apple and the would-be Netflix franchise “The Gray Man” with Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, an expensive affair that never took off with critics.
If The Marvel Cinematic Universe wobbled in 2023 because of the poorly received ‘Ant-Man 3’ “The Marvels,” and “Secret Invasion” series, many might argue part of that is the loss of its big stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Scarlett Johannsson in the post “Avengers: Endgame” universe. All three of their characters, Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Widow, respectively, either died or were essentially taken off the battlefield (Captain America came back from his time travel exploits as an old man).
Robert Downey Jr. might be willing to suit up again as Iron Man in another Avengers movie. However, two Marvel directors are not so sure about that.
Zack Sharf Digital News Director Robert Downey Jr. elated Marvel fans earlier this month when he told Esquire magazine that he would “happily” return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Tony Stark/Iron Man following his Oscar win for best supporting actor in March.
Ellise Shafer A “Barbie” poster signed by Margot Robbie and the original script for “Love Actually” are just a few of the star-studded items taking part in the latest auction for War Child, which advocates for children living through war. Over 70 celebrities have donated rare items to the charity’s “Spring Clean” fundraiser, including War Child global ambassador Carey Mulligan, who is gifting a limited edition book of the “Saltburn” script signed by the cast.
Liam Hemsworth will be concluding Geralt of Rivia’s epic story. He’ll be starring as the lead role in “The Witcher,” the succesful Netflix series based on the books and video game adaptations. Hemsworth will be taking up the role for seasons four and five, with the fifth installment marking the end of the series.

Chris Hemsworth is both one of Hollywood’s favorite “Chris” stars and a beloved member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe where he plays the God of Thunder.

While Amazon MGM Studios didn’t take the stage at CinemaCon, they did meet with exhibitors and key press to strut their future theatrical slate, in particular they showed off ten minutes of the Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans’ movie Red One. While we agree to keep mum about the details of the Santa Claus rescue movie, let’s just say the originally conceived for Prime Video title is definitely meant for theatrical, which is where it’s going on Nov. 15; the only wide release currently on that weekend.
There is so much going on in Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning 2015 novel “The Sympathizer” that it would take a team of true craftsmen even to attempt to unpack it in episodic form. HBO is lucky they hired one of the best in Park Chan-Wook, a supremely and undeniably talented director.
Robert Downey Jr. is opening up about his life.
Last month, Robert Downey Jr. finally earned an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor thanks to his critically acclaimed performance in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.” And while he’ll next be seen on the small screen in the HBO series “The Sympathizer,” the Oscar-winner, who seemed content to leave Marvel behind in recent years, is now potentially open to returning to the Tony Stark/Iron Man role that helped resurrect his acting career back in 2008.
