Will Smith reportedly left the Oscars officials "furious" when he refused to leave the ceremony on Sunday, March 27 after hitting comedian Chris Rock.The Hollywood actor, who won the award for Best Actor for his rousing and poignant role in King Richard, shocked the world when he reacted to 57 year old Chris's joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's new shaved head by storming up on stage and slapping him across the face. What's more, the duo were said to be engaged in "heated" conversations with Will's PR team backstage.

But while the Oscar winner declined to leave the awards show, and sources also claimed there was "yelling" during the exchanges, the Academy's official statement also says they admit they could have "handled things differently" on the night.
