Twinning! For years, Katy Perry posed as her look-alike Zooey Deschanel before her music video for “Not the End of the World” dropped. Turns out, Deschanel isn’t the only one doing impersonations here.

Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel have long been called celebrity lookalikes, but the pop star revealed she used to take advantage of their similar appearances years ago by actually posing as the actress around Hollywood. The global pop star admitted to her years-long secret while chatting with Deschanel in an Instagram Live on Monday -- and it turns out, it didn't exactly take the "Elf" star by surprise.

Zooey Deschanel starred in lookalike Katy Perry‘s music video for Not the End of the World and they got together to chat about it on an Instagram Live. And Katy made a big confession during the chat! “I have to admit something, Zooey,” Katy said during an Instagram Live on Monday (December 21).

Even before she was famous, Katy Perry was getting the VIP treatment. Katy confessed in an Instagram Live chat with Zooey Deschanel that she used to pretend to be the New Girl star, her celebrity doppelgänger, in order to get into clubs! Katy, 36, said she felt “so complimented” that she actually fooled people into thinking she was the gorgeous actress.

—I mean...if I didn't know better, I'd just assume that they were separated at birth, TBH. Of course, Katy and Zooey know they look like sisters and decided to honor their uncanny resemblance with a tongue-in-cheek video for Katy's song, "Not the End of the World," in which extraterrestrial life forms abducted Zooey thinking she was Katy.

Of course we knew that Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel were basically twins, but we didn’t realize how useful that resemblance might be!
