Film fans are in for a treat tonight (Sunday) as the glam and glitz of Hollywood spills into millions of homes across the world direct from LA. The long-awaited 96th Academy Awards are screening this evening, with celebrities galore and the chance of some memorable moments.
The smash-hit Oppenheimer is leading the nominations with 13 nods, while Poor Things follows closely behind with 11 nominations. The other summer blockbuster Barbie is also up for eight awards, including Best Song for “I’m Just Ken” by Ryan Gosling and Mark Ronson.

The Oscars are on tonight (March 10) and you have to stay up late if you want to catch them live. The Oscars are being shown on ITV1, ITV2 and ITVX for British movie fans, in a show hosted by movie buff Jonathan Ross.
Here in the UK, they start at 10.15pm and go on until 2.35am. If you're planning on staying up for the whole show - more than two hours of it - get some snacks in now.
The US host is Jimmy Kimmel, the fourth time he has taken the reins of the programme. There are only five people who have hosted it more -Bob Hope: 19 times (14 solo, five with others); Billy Crystal: nine times (solo); Johnny Carson: five times (solo); Whoopi Goldberg: four times (solo) and Jack Lemmon: four times (two solo, two with others).
In the USA, Kimmel is best known for hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a late-night talk show, since 2003. The youngest-ever Oscars host was Anne Hathaway, who co-hosted with James Franco in 2011, aged 28.
