What's New to Stream in June: Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, and ESPN+

Ever since Zack Snyder made the announcement that his much-hype cut of “Justice League” was going to be released on HBO Max in 2021, a certain contingent of fandom has seen their years-long battle as the first win in an overall war with studios. Fans are now rallying around folks like David Ayer in hopes that his cut of “Suicide Squad” will be released by HBO Max, as well as any other disputed version of a film that fans feel was interfered with by evil studio bosses.

And with that, a new streaming platform has entered the ring. HBO Max finally launched after the much-talked-about announcement that they’ll soon release the anticipated Snyder Cut of “Justice League,” “Friends,” every Studio Ghibli movie, and thousands of other titles.

Shortly after Friends signed off the air in 2004, the next fall, Matt Le Blanc launched the first spinoff, called Joey.

You're getting toilet paper and baker's yeast delivered to your house during the pandemic, why not get some entertainment delivered by Amazon while you're at it? Only this doesn't come in a box that you have to spray down with Lysol every time it arrives on your doorstep, your neighborhood bandits can't steal it, and you can feel a little less guilty that a warehouse worker didn't risk their life to get it to you.

Laura Benanti and HBO Max will give high school students from around the chance to perform in a pandemic-proof musical with the newly announced special “Homeschool Musical: Class of 2020.”

HBO Max is officially the future home of “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” aka The Snyder Cut. The film (TV miniseries?) is expected to arrive in 2021 and has been described by the filmmaker as a massive redo of the superhero film that flopped at the box office and failed to excite fans back in 2017.

One thing that’s instantly striking about HBO Max’s rom-com anthology series “Love Life” is the exacting period detail for each year of the 2010s it depicts. When the show declares an episode is set in 2012, the iPhones and text messages actually look like they did in that exact year.

The streaming services are attempting to make the best of this pandemic situation. With people stuck inside and production on films and TV series seemingly on hold, for the time being, streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV+, Disney+, and Amazon are doing everything in their power to make sure they have content to push out to the masses.

Amazon Prime Video is providing even more options for what to watch during the summer of quarantine by adding even more shows and movies to its library. This June on Prime is all about movies, with buzzy recent movies like the blockbuster mystery comedy-thriller Knives Out (June 12), gator horror flick Crawl (June 18), and the controversial Daniel Radcliffe-led action movie Guns Akimbo (June 27) coming online, along with classics like Dirty Dancing and The Natural (June 1).  

Interesting choices! When HBO Max launched on Wednesday, May 27, Bachelor Nation was gifted with a variety of shows from the last 18 years since The Bachelor‘s 2002 debut.

WarnerMedia officially enters the streaming wars with the launch of its platform, HBO Max, which includes 10,000 hours worth of content thanks to a mix of originals — an Amy Schumer docuseries, Anna Kendrick’s, the reality competition series — and a deep library of fan favorites, such as and, as well as all of HBO’s award-winning series. 

Drew Dixon, 50, is one of the central voices who appears in HBO Max’s new powerful documentary, On The Record. The former Def Jam executive is one of several women to have publicly accused hip-hop music pioneer, Russell Simmons, 62, of sexual assault.

At the end of a long day, there’s nothing quite like curling up on the couch and diving into a show with enough episodes to get you through the rest of the tiring week. While countless streaming platforms attempt to entice audiences with binge-worthy originals and classic favorites, few have as many surprising gems as Amazon Prime Video.
