Emergency services raced to the scene of the two-car smash on the A711 Dalbeattie Road, near Dumfries, around 12.40am on Wednesday, March 16.
Cops locked down the road close to Mossend Cottage as they launched a probe into the collision between a Honda Civic and Honda CRV.
The force confirmed three men, passengers in the Civic, died at the scene.
