'We live rent-free in stranger's homes around the world - we've now saved thousands'

A couple who have travelled the world whilst living rent-free have now managed to save up for a deposit by house sitting stranger's homes. Molly Keane, 25, and her boyfriend, Garth, 30, have stayed in 17 houses in New York, Amsterdam and Barcelona without paying a penny.
Since June 2022, the couple have earnt money through looking after people's homes and also dog sitting, and have described their new lifestyle as 'the best thing they have ever done'.
The pair, who decided to travel during the cost of living crisis, have saved more than they 'ever thought they would' and now have enough money to put a deposit down on a house when they eventually decide to return home.

Molly and Garth use the Trusted House Sitters app to volunteer to look after strangers’ homes and pets for free and have been doing so full-time since their first stay.
They do not have a permanent home, which they said is “such a privilege” considering the cost-of-living crisis. The couple say they “have no plans to settle down for a while” as they are planning on continuing their travelling lifestyle for the foreseeable future.
“The houses we stay in are absolutely beautiful, and often really big modern spaces, and not having to have a landlord or worry about the housing crisis is such a privilege,” said Molly, who works remotely as a photographer and content creator.
Molly and Garth met during the pandemic and, as soon as the pair could legally travel, they explored Ireland, Portugal and Germany and even lived in Barcelona for a few months.
