Police have issued a stern warning after youths hurled bricks and stones at vehicles on the M60. Officers say six vehicles were damaged after being hit by projectiles between junction 2 and 3, near Cheadle, on Sunday afternoon (June 19).
Among the vehicles targeted by the youths was a lorry, which was left with a smashed windscreen. Police have now issued a public appeal for witnesses to the shocking incidents.
A post on the GMP Cheadle & Bramhall Facebook page yesterday read: "We received several reports yesterday afternoon (Sunday) of damage to 6 vehicles, including a smashed window screen on a lorry. This was caused by youths throwing bricks and stones onto the M60 in the Cheadle area between junctions 2 and 3.

"We don't need to tell you how dangerous this is! Did you witness any of these incidents? Do you have any dash-cam footage showing these youths, who obviously don't realise the seriousness of their actions.
"Please contact us on 101 or email [email protected] if you have any information, quote log 1599/19062022. Call us immediately on 999 if you witness this in the future."
In April, police issued a warning about the worrying trend of 'reckless' youths throwing bricks at cars driving on motorways around Greater Manchester. A woman was forced to stop her car on the M60 hard shoulder last year after her windscreen was smashed when an object was thrown at her car.
Officers warned that they would crackdown on those putting 'multiple lives in unnecessary danger.'
