Wayne Rooney has argued why Marcus Rashford may benefit from leaving Manchester United.
Rashford has endured a difficult run of form for United this season. The 26-year-old scored a sublime goal in the Manchester derby last Sunday to take his tally for the campaign to six goals, all of which have come in the Premier League.
It was in January that Rashford was fined and warned by the club after he was spotted in a Belfast nightclub and reported ill to training. Manager Erik ten Hag did not select Rashford for the FA Cup fourth-round tie against Newport County, with the striker returning to the matchday squad for the 4-3 win over Wolves in the Premier League a few days later.
Rashford's performances have been the subject of debate among fans and pundits this season, and it was no different on Saturday. Rooney was alongside Rio Ferdinand and Joleon Lescott as he previewed United's clash against Everton at Old Trafford.

Rooney has been out of work since his exit from Birmingham City as manager in January. Now the United legend has offered words of advice to Rashford, including why the striker may benefit were he to leave Old Trafford in the summer.
"I don’t think Marcus [Rashford] is a leader," Rooney said on TNT Sports prior to Rashford scoring a first-half penalty. "Sometimes his body language isn’t the best in that regard, I’d look more towards Casemiro, [Raphael] Varane, Bruno [Fernandes] as captain.
