Wavelength, the Emmy-award winning film production company behind Feels Good Man, CUSP, and Sundance/SXSW favorite 32 Sounds, has announced a wave of new hires to support their exponential growth in the past year. The newest members of the Wavelength team include award-winning filmmaker Eric Mahoney as Head of Development and Roz Sedaghat as Head of Legal and Business Affairs. Both will work closely with Founder, CEO, and Executive Producer, Jenifer Westphal and President and Executive Producer, Joe Plummer as the company continues to expand to meet content demands.
Having doubled their growth in the past year, Wavelength’s new additions also include Associate Producer-Films Jaimi Cooks, Assistant Editor-Films Hai-Li Kong, Content Producer-Studios Justin Fischer, and Office Manager Cee Williams.

Eric Mahoney joins Wavelength as Head of Development where he will ideate and develop original projects while working closely with agents, creators and filmmakers to grow the company’s network of collaborators. In addition to his debut documentary North Dixie Drive, Mahoney has produced the global anthology film Madly, which won Best Actress at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival, as well as the 2019 SXSW documentary Brainiac: Transmission After Zero which he also directed.

Carrie Brownstein will reportedly direct a new comedy film titled Witness Protection, with Schitt’s Creek star Annie Murphy locked in for the lead role.According to an April 11 Deadline report, the film will focus on Murphy’s as-yet-unnamed character, “a woman who has always defined herself by her romantic relationships” and who becomes embroiled in a situation that forces her into witness protection. There, “she must try to figure out who she really is for the first time while maintaining her cover and keeping the criminals at bay”.Murphy will also executive produce the film alongside her Schitt’s Creek crewmates Rupinder Gill and David West Read, who are also writing the screenplay.Witness Protection will come as Brownstein’s third film as a director, following MGM’s currently unreleased Fairy Godmother and a film about Seattle rockers Heart.

Kevin Smith has shared further details about his new horror film KillRoy Was Here, which is set to be the first film ever released as an NFT.Directed and by Smith and based on a script he co-wrote with Andy McElfresh, the horror anthology features a creature that kills evil adults on behalf of their traumatised child victims. Smith also produced the film with Jordan Monsanto and David Shapiro.KillRoy Was Here will be released as an NFT that also includes exclusive content from the film, behind-the-scenes footage, and a commentary track (per Deadline).

Angelique Jackson Veteran PR executive Eric Kops has been officially named head of global communications and earned media for Lionsgate’s motion picture group.The announcement was made Thursday by Marisa Liston, Lionsgate’s president of global marketing, to whom Kops will report.Kops will oversee global feature film publicity on all wide theatrical releases, multi-platform releases and catalog, through the full cycle of their campaigns; he also will oversee strategic communications for the motion picture group as a whole. Kops has been unofficially serving in the role since last year, when Liston was promoted from the job to lead the global marketing department.“Eric could not be more respected for his creativity, intelligence, experience, and leadership skills, which made him the perfect choice to head up the department,” stated Liston, announcing the official move.
NEW YORK -- Marjorie Miller, vice president and global enterprise editor at The Associated Press, has been named as the new administrator of the Pulitzer Prizes.Miller spent 27 years at the Los Angeles Times as a correspondent in Latin America, Europe and the Middle East. She was the newspaper's foreign editor when it won a Pulitzer Prize for Russia coverage and was a finalist for Iraq War coverage.She joined AP in 2010 as the regional editor for Latin America, where her team produced award-winning coverage of cartel violence.
