A pandemic-era MTV Video Music Awards ceremony took place last night in a surprisingly seamless fashion, with host Keke Palmer ably providing the glue to hold everything together. Much of the fanfare of the evening was devoted to Lady Gaga, an artist who has historically out-crazied the ordinarily-quite-bonkers VMAs at every turn, from her masked archival Alexander McQueen outfit in 2009 to 2010's notorious meat dress to her 2011 performance of "You and I" in boy drag.
