A rescue operation was launched after a hiker suffered an injury in a fall at a remote beauty spot. Paramedics and volunteers from Oldham Mountain Rescue Team were scrambled to the foot of Birchen Clough in the moors above Dovestones Reservoir.
It came after a walker injured their ankle while doing the Dovestones circular route. After being checked over at the scene the walker was stretchered to a waiting ambulance.
The rescue took around 90 minutes.

A statement on the OMRT Facebook page said: "Just before midday on Friday we received a request from North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust to assist with a walker who had injured their ankle whilst walking the Dove Stone circular route. The walker was quickly located at the foot of Birchen Clough.
"After an assessment by one of the Team’s casualty carers, the walker was wrapped up warmly and loaded onto a stretcher for the short, but technical, carry to a Team ambulance. The walker was then transferred to an NWAS ambulance waiting further down the valley for onward transportation to hospital."
