A teacher who was jailed after filming 131 upskirting videos and having over 100 indecent images of children has been banned from teaching for life. A government watchdog banned Ian Bensley from ever teaching again and ever appealing the punishment, reports Derby Live.
Bensley was sentenced to one year in prison and placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years in 2020 for his crimes. The sick paedophile made many of his upskirting videos at supermarkets, with some of his clips containing girls aged 16 or under, Derby Crown Court heard.
The 41-year old was arrested in July 2018 and later pleaded guilty to six charges of making an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child. Alongside those crimes the former teacher also plead guilty to three charges of outraging public decency, relating to the upskirting offences, dating back to 2011.
Following his sentencing, Bensley lost his job at Derby Moor Academy, where he had been employed for almost seven years, as well as his relationship. Now the 41-year-old has lost his right to ever practice his former profession after the ban from the Teacher Regulation Agency.
Sarah Buxcey, chair of the hearing panel, said: "The panel was of the view that prohibition was both proportionate and appropriate. The panel decided that the public interest considerations outweighed the interests of Mr Bensley.
"The seriousness of the offences and the lack of insight and remorse was a significant factor in forming that opinion. Accordingly, the panel made a recommendation to the Secretary of State that a prohibition order should be imposed with immediate effect.
