Disney is turning one of Broadway’s biggest musicals into a movie!

Disney is spelling "m-u-s-i-c-a-l," closing a deal to pick up the rights to hit Broadway showThe 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, with the intent of mounting a live-action adaptation. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who produced the billion-dollar-grossing live-action Aladdin remake for the studio, are producing Spelling Bee via their Rideback banner.

Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich are producing a Disney film adaptation of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, through their Rideback banner, Deadline can confirm.

Disney has picked up the rights to the hit Broadway show “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” and will adapt it into a live-action film, an individual with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap.Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who produced the live-action “Aladdin” for the studio, will produce via their Rideback banner. Rideback’s Ryan Halprin will executive produce.The musical follows several competitors competing in a spelling bee.
