Viacom International Studios Teams With Pedro Almodovar For ‘White Lies’ – NATPE

The films of Pedro Almodóvar are an international treasure, and the only real tragedy of the director not working in the English language is that it really limits the actresses he can work with. Imagine the possibilities!

MADRID — Not resting on his laurels after a whirlwind year promoting and exhibiting his latest Oscar-nominated feature, “Pain and Glory,” Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar has designs to get back behind the camera soon with two English-language projects, marking the first time in his decades-long career the director will film in the language.

Sunday’s Oscars ceremony had the biggest names in Hollywood take the stage to be recognized for their contribution in last year’s best films. Golden statuettes were handed out in 24 categories including Best Picture, Best Actress and, of course, Best Actor, for which Antonio Banderas received a nomination for his performance in Pedro Almodóvar film Pain and Glory.

The International Cinephile Society is known for going its own way with its annual awards, and its latest edition is no exception. Leading the field for its 17th awards was Pedro Almodóvar’s semi-autobiographical “Pain and Glory,” which won best picture, and best actor for Antonio Banderas.

Antonio Banderas is nominated for his first Oscar – ever – for his role in Pablo Almodovar’s Pain and Glory. However, this is far from being his first time at the prestigious award ceremony celebrating Hollywood’s greatest.

MADRID — Spain’s two most recognizable cinematic faces, Antonio Banderas and Penélope Cruz, will co-star in a new film from Madrid’s The Mediapro Studio, titled “Competencia Oficial” (Official Competition), directed by Argentine filmmakers Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat (“The Distinguished Citizen,” “The Man Next Door”).

Jax Taylor wants critics to get the their facts straight before pointing fingers at him over attending a strip club during his bachelor party. During Tuesday night’s episode [recap here] of Vanderpump Rules, cameras followed Jax to a strip club in Miami and showed him appearing to enjoy the scenery, which included a view of topless dancers. Yet, fans argued that he didn’t tell his wife Brittany Cartwright the whole story of what went down at the strip club.

Antonio Banderas will ensure his shoes are broken in properly before attending the 2020 Academy Awards next month.

MADRID — Pedro Almodóvar’s “Pain and Glory” took home Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Antonio Banderas) and Best Original Screenplay at the 34th Spanish Academy Goya Awards, as well as Best Editing, Original Music and Supporting Actress (Julieta Serrano).

A lovingly preserved Spanish Colonial-style home sited in prime East Gate Bel Air has popped up for sale, flaunting a hefty $17.45 million asking price. Sited just a short hop above Sunset Boulevard and originally built in 1928, the estate was co-designed by Wallace Neff and John Byers — two of the most acclaimed architects of that era — and sports a notable Hollywood pedigree.

Bong Joon Ho's acclaimed Parasite, which also landed five other Oscar nominations including best picture, best director and best original screenplay, looks like the film to beat in the international feature film derby.
